Doesn’t it feel great when you post on social media and your new post really takes off ?!

You get a ton of likes, comments and shares. And your followers mention your post at their next Eye Appointments.

What can you take away from this success? And how can create more posts like it?

I wanted to share with you a recent post that took off.

I posted pretty much the same thing on LinkedIn, Instagram and Facebook.

Here it is:

On LinkedIn, I received 2,031 views of my post (more than 10x than an average post). There were 21 Likes, 4 Comments. Importantly, four people reached out via email to grab the guide 31 Top Optometry Images. (If you haven’t already, let me know and I’ll send you a copy. Send to leigh at optomly dot com dot au). In your practice, this is like getting four new patient appointments for free.

(Leigh: As I write this post, another person liked the post on LinkedIn!)

On Instagram, it received 1511 views (or impressions), 1305 reach (number of unique viewers), 122 likes, 2 comments and 2 saves (people who look at the post again later). I also received one new email contact from this post.

On Facebook, it received 322 reach and 2 likes. So far, no email contacts from this post.

What can you take away from this?

If you find images that your audience love, you’ll get way more engagement with your post, and exposure for your practice. Even though video is on the rise, compelling images are still critical to success on social media.

Think of each social media platform as separate. In other words, tailor your strategy to what works. For example, LinkedIn and Instagram were highly receptive to this type of post. However, Facebook was about average.

Great posts need more exposure. Any post that has great engagement deserves to get boosted to your audience. But don’t just let Facebook work out who to boost to. If you just do it automatically, you may show your post to people from another city or state. Boost your post to people in your area (e.g. 20km radius), your Facebook Page followers, your website audience or even your existing patient list!

As your boosted post becomes active, you can enjoy more engagement on your post, your page and more appointments from social media! Don’t you love being an Independent!
